My English teacher Dave
For whom I sometimes behaved
Said “poetry does not need to rhyme”.
If I met him today
“Dave”, I would say
“You took all my fun away.
Day after day
I let you lead me astray
Away from the rhythm,
Away from the sway”.
I have a feeling he’d say
“I think you’ve just proved my point”.
